Jillian Schlesinger is an independent filmmaker and writer/director/editor of television promos and film trailers.  Her debut feature film Maidentrip (SXSW 2013 Audience Award) explores the extraordinary life and adventures of Laura Dekker, the youngest person ever to sail around the world alone. Maidentrip has screened at festivals, in theaters, and on television worldwide and received numerous awards as well as nominations for Gotham Awards and Cinema Eye Honors. Paste Magazine named Jillian one of 10 Women Directors to Watch in 2014. As a writer, director, and editor of promos and trailers, Jillian's work has appeared on networks including AMC, A&E, Oxygen, History, SundanceTV, and BBC America. Her promo for SundanceTV's Dysfunctional Family Thanksgiving won a Promax Award in the "Something for Nothing" category.

Jillian grew up in Santa Cruz, California and graduated from Brown University where she studied creative writing and linguistic anthropology. She lives in Brooklyn.
