MICHAEL MELAMEDOFF - DIRECTOR

Outsider stories, features and short films

Michael is a director of narrative and documentary films. His work as a feature filmmaker has been hailed for its moody realism and nuanced performances. His past projects include Weakness starring Bobby Cannavale and June Diane Raphael; The Exhibitionists starring Laverne Cox; and most recently, the branded digital series Heirloom for executive producer Kevin Kinsella (Jersey Boys)

In his documentaries, Michael has consistently crafted funny and closely observed windows into pop culture. The Boston Globe hailed his outsider art film, Victori, writing: "Exploring the fine line between kitsch and genius, Melamedoff's dead-pan doc outmocks some of the best of Christopher Guest." Michael is currently directing The Problem with Apu, starring comedian Hari Kondabolu, for Marobru Productions and truTV.

Prior to beginning his filmmaking career, Michael spent six years at bicoastal agency Innovative Artists. His time in artist representation has given him perspective into both artist and client needs, and the language of sales through unique content. When not making stuff, Michael is an enthusiastic participant in numerous fantasy dynasty leagues, including the raising of his two children, Milo and Alice.
